The super slow weight training…

strength-training-300x198I have been practicing “super slow training” for almost 2 1/2 years now and all I can tell you is that it has been the most effective type of weight training I have ever done. Not only has it made significant changes in my overall body fitness and health but it has also allowed me to have more free time for myself as the workout only takes 1/2hr from my already hectic week. Yes, that is all the weight training I do! I was introduced to “super slow training” by a cycling peer and now my good friend and coach, Mr. Gary Anger. And please don’t let his last name scare you as it scared me when I first met him! He is actually one of the sweetest guys you can ever meet:-). Since then, he hasn’t only coached me to be stronger, both physically and mentally, but he also continues to inspire me to believe in myself, be better and surpass all my mental limits. Since weight training plays a significant role in my life (especially now that I am in my wonderful 40’s!) I will continue sharing with you, via my future posts and blog, my journey and experience with super slow training and its benefits. Hello Everyone! Hope you all are having a great weekend so far.  I actually just came back from attending  my daughter’s college preview orientation at UF and after spending two full days there I now find myself  in the “staying at home”  mode for the moment.  Anyways, today I wanted to talk to you about “the romper”.  Two weeks ago, in between running errands,  I stopped by the Banana Republic Factory Store just to check out what they had to offer.  As soon as I walked in my eyes were drawn to a romper they just had gotten in.  When I first looked at it, I said to myself: “Oh, I like it!, it looks cute!”,  but then I thought: “Oh no, forget it! I can’t wear one of those, I never have!”.  And yes, that was a true statement.  I have never in my life owned or worn a romper, and this is one of the main reasons why:  I couldn’t stand the idea of having to “strip down”  or take my top off every time I visited the ladies room.  It just didn’t feel right or convenient to me.  In my mind it would just take too much time… and what about if I am in a hurry??? I am sure some of you understand what I am talking about:-).   So after the mental chat with myself was over, I decided to ignore it and continue looking around.  As I was leaving the store, I couldn’t help to stop, look back and stare at the romper once again.   To be honest with you, it wasn’t the look of the romper itself what was drawing all my attention.  I mean, it was cute but honestly nothing like “to die for” but I knew there was something more than that.  After a couple of minutes I came to the realization that it was all about the reasons and excuses I had permanently  set in my mind that  justified not to ever wear one.  I realized it was a personal matter; I  just didn’t have enough confidence.   I am sure many of you can relate to me when it comes to wearing certain styles or trends.  We may not have the confidence to try new or different things or just step out of our comfort zone when it comes to fashion or other areas of our lives.  In this case I decided to give the romper a try.  Despite all the inconveniences I could possibly think of  to justify  not  to ever wear one, I went ahead and bought it.  So, here it is!  In order to boost my confidence a little and add some attitude to the look, I paired it with gladiator heels and aviator sunglasses.  And to add a splash of color to the black and off white color scheme, I added the forest green cross body bag.   I hope you all enjoy this post and remember that confidence is an attitude, it comes from knowing who you really are.  I in a future post I will be talking more about the do’s and don’ts when wearing a romper based on my own personal opinion and experience.   Have a blessed evening!
