Thanks for visiting my blog! My name is Jeannette, also known as Ms. Jeannie:-).  I am the mom of two amazing young ladies and two adopted dogs. I am mechanical engineer by degree, a co-worker (yes, I have a full time job!), an ex-wife (yep!) but most importantly, I am part of the whole that connects me with you and all that exists; I am a child of God. I am a soul living what I call, an unlimited human experience.  I have always loved fashion, fitness, nutrition, putting together outfits, decorating … just being creative brings me so much joy!  It gets me in “the zone”.   A very challenging life experience allowed me to discover a passion for writing and connect to others.  Growing up in a very humble and loving home, where resources were limited but the essentials were always met , taught me about home remedies using earth grown resources (thanks mom!) and inspired me to practice and promote a happy, healthy and balanced lifestyle.  It wasn’t until now, after many life ups and downs, trials and tribulations, happy moments and challenging times (and many birthdays too!) that I decided to step out of my comfort zone and pursue my passions.  I don’t ask myself anymore:  Why now? or:  Why I waited so long?…  I have learned that there is a purpose and time for everything and everyone and this is my time.  It is my desire that you are able to do the same, no matter how old or young you are or where you come from, just know that there is always a way to get things done.  All you need is the desire that will drive you to connect to your true self and allow your passions to manifest and unfold their very own way.

fullsizerenderAbout Ms. Jeannie and Her Closet

The idea of creating a blog originated from a personal desire to channel my passions and practice what I love; connecting with people like you through my writing and share what I have learned along the way.  I want to talk about life in general and my own personal growth.  I want to share my interest for health, fitness, conscious and happy living and of course shoes and clothing too:-)  And by no means am I an expert in any of these areas or anything close to that.  I am just inspired by what I have learned in life and continue learning as I move forward,  trying new things and of course, making some mistakes.  But most importantly, I am inspired by a very strong passion that has always resided in me.   And this is why I created Ms. Jeannie and Her Closet, my very own personal blog.   A product of a dream driven by love, passion and last but no least, my family’s unconditional support.

DSC_7611EAbout choosing the name of this blog…

One of the many challenges I faced while working towards creating this blog was choosing the “right”  name.  In my mind, it had to feel just right.  The task became a daily family practice and at times a fun chore.  From the time I woke up all the way to before going to bed, I would come up with different names and then ask my family for their opinion about them.  But none of them seemed to really connect with me or the intent of the blog I had in mind.  So, why Ms. Jeannie and Her Closet? Well, the first half, Ms. Jeannie, comes from my name Jeannette.  Some people call me Jeannie and using such nickname seemed to rhyme better with the rest of the blog name.  The second half, “Her Closet”, may sound obvious to you because yes, I do talk about clothes and shoes, etc. but it does actually have a personal story behind it as well:  The truth is that I have always loved spending time in my closet.  Just like a tree house is to a child, my closet is to me;  It is the place I go to hide whenever I crave “alone time” and silence.  As you know, I have four dogs and they are always seeking my attention so when I want to meditate or pray,  I go to my closet.   It is actually in my closet where I get ideas and inspiration to write about anything I want.  In my closet, words seem to flow through me easily and effortlessly.  And you may still be asking yourself: but why in your closet and not anywhere else in your home?  Well, I came to realize that it has to do with the appreciation I have for shoes and clothing.   Being around them makes me happy,  and when we are happy we automatically connect with the creative self within us and experience true peace.  So these days you will find me spending lots of time in my closet, especially when writing to you through my blog.  It can get kind of messy in there at times and a little tight but it continues to be my favorite place of the house.  My closet is the tree house I never had.

May you also find a “tree house” in your life too; a place where you can hide, be still and connect with the passions and dreams that like me, have always resided in you:-)
