Reinventing the look # 1: The risk taker…

Hello everyone! As I mentioned on yesterday’s post, this week I am taking on the challenge to put together five different looks incorporating the same black lace top in all of them.  For today’s outfit, I opted  to do something different and unexpected.  I paired the black lace top with a floral flared skirt.  I decided to call this look “The Risk Taker”. Why?  Because to be honest with you, I wouldn’t  normally mix two different patterns when it comes to pairing two major pieces of clothing like the top and a skirt .   At first, I wasn’t sure about the idea but then it kind of grew on me.  This is why I called it ‘The Risk Taker” look.  The key to doing this successfully is to keep one of the two patterns  on the smaller side of the scale.  Meaning that, if you are going to use a bold flowered pattern on the bottom (like I did today) then you may want to keep the pattern of the top or blouse subtle and understated. Also, the combined color scheme of the outfit has to flow.  There has to be a common color denominator, if you know what I mean. The skirt I am wearing was custom made by my talented friend, Silvia Helena (thank you so much Silvia!).  I finished my look with black gladiator heels, a bold aqua blue necklace and a small black wristlet bag.  Hope you all enjoy this post and again, stay tuned to see more of the “Reinventing the Look” challenge this week.  Blessings and sweet dreams to you all! Love, Ms. Jeannie:-)

The outfits I put together are for your inspiration and you may be able to find similar pieces in your closet to achieve the look.   However, to provide you with more options, I have included below the links to the same or similar pieces in case you are interested.

Reinventing the look #1: The girls night out…

Hello everyone! I hope you all had an amazing weekend and that now you find yourselves full of positive energy to start a new week. Today I decided to begin a new fashion challenge that I will call “Reinventing the Look”. In this challenge, I will be choosing an existing item from my closet and use it to put together five different looks (one for everyday of the week (not the weekend:-)). The reason I decided to take on this challenge is to show you that sometimes we can find something we already own and use it to create different looks to support different occasions. For this week, I chose an old black lace top that I have owned for about three years. The look I created for today, the first day of the challenge, is the “Girls Night Out” look. I wanted a look that was fun and vibrant. To achieve this look, I paired the black lace top with a pair of bright green skinny jeans and animal print pumps. I added a black shoulder bag (that can also be used as a clutch), a bib gold necklace, gold bangles, and rings. I am actually very excited to see what else I can do with this black lace top so stay tuned if you want to find out. Have a blessed night and sweet dreams:-) Love and blessings, Ms. Jeannie.
