ENGLISH/ESPAÑOL

Happy Wednesday my loves! Let me begin this post sharing one of my favorite looks of the season; a poncho worn  over a turtle neck top tied up at the waist with a wide belt, skinny jeans and OTK boots.  In my opinion it is a look that is super chic. easy to wear and looks great on any body shape.  Hope you like it and feel inspired to create you very own version:-)

And a lesson on being assertive…

How many of you struggle with being assertive and saying NO to people? Ok, I hear you! And, so that you don’t feel alone or like an outcast I want you know that you are not the only one.  Like you, at times I struggle with expressing what I truly want for myself and just saying NO to people.   And why am I being this open and honest with you today?  Because if you are taking the time to visit my blog and read what I write, it is my duty and responsibility to you  to be honest and truthful about myself and what I share.  This is a “poker face” free zone!   I am currently on a journey of self- growth and personal advancement in every aspect of my life and it is my intent and desire to take you along with me (if you want and let me!) so that we can experience and learn together.  I would truly appreciate your wonderful company 🙂

It took me a while to figure out and most importantly to acknowledge such debilitating and very self-consuming behavior in me. I grew up believing that in order to be a good human being it was imperative to always make others happy. I used to think that by putting myself second and everyone else first, I was pretty much earning my front row seat to heaven.  In my mind, saying no to others was a selfish act and not a God-like behavior.  It took me a while to finally understand the rationale behind this erroneous way of being.  It wasn’t until later in my life (very recently!) and in the midst of my very own personal advancement when I finally realized that one of the main reasons why it has been so challenging for me to practice being assertive was because for the longest time I could not deal with assertiveness from others either. In other words, it really affected me very much being told NO or feeling not accepted or liked by others and consequently I didn’t want others to feel the same way.  It is a truth that we are a reflection of how we feel inside so…. there you go!!! And for that reason I took it upon myself to always please others and do what made them happy.  Without knowing the consequences, I chose to live a life filled with fear and deprivation.  I ended up living avoiding new opportunities, closing doors to new adventures and sacrificing my very own happiness and desires to satisfy others.  I got caught up in a very unpleasant and vicious cycle.

And now, I am on a mission to live my life to the fullest doing what truly fills my soul and resonates my heart with joy and happiness. Practicing being assertive has been one of the most challenging  but most necessary goals I have set myself to achieve in this life changing journey of self realization and advancement.  I have come to realize that being true to ourselves not only is our purpose but is also a valuable gift we owe to each other as it is by doing what we really want that we allow God to manifest and do his work accordingly.  We were not created to make anyone happy or be made happy but instead, to be happy ourselves and for that reason, being assertive is one of the most important keys to achieving true happiness.

And remember that we can’t share what we don’t have and we can’t get from others what we can’t find within ourselves.

Have a blessed life!

A casual look and a commitment to greatness…

DSC_0315EDSC_0352EDSC_0411EDSC_0504EDSC_0462EDSC_0369EDSC_0432EENGLISH/ESPAÑOL

Happy Monday my loves! A lot has happened since my last post. Got all my Christmas décor out of storage (huge project!), visited a very dear friend I hadn’t seen in a very long time and turned 46 years wiser on the 17th and of course I had to celebrate the entire week (why not!) so as you can see, I was super busy and could not fit in time for blogging 🙁 I also got to film my first video (a huge accomplishment for me as I am super shy:-)) but most importantly, I made the commitment to live my life fearlessly and with no regrets. I am now back, filled with lots of motivation, wonderful ideas, and the desire to achieve greatness in my life and hopefully inspire you to find your very own.

We ALL have the potential to achieve and experience greatness in our lives and there shouldn’t be any doubts about that. The seed of greatness was planted within us the moment we were created and to be great is our destiny and true PURPOSE. The key is to find out what greatness is meant to be for each of us. Greatness is definitively a personal matter and just like expensive perfumes come in different types and shapes, greatness can be manifested and expressed in our lives in very unique and different ways.  It is important to know that greatness has nothing to do with making lots of money, achieving a specific social or professional status or accomplishing what others think is important or “great” in life.  Instead, it has to do with being and giving our best, doing what we love the most, and connecting with the true meaning of our existence.  It is now at 46,  when I am finally connecting with my very own greatness and also learning to see it in everything and everyone in my life. I especially see it in the eyes of those whom no matter what they do, what their life circumstances are or where they come from, choose to live with passion, unconditional self-love and freedom from the judgment of others.

And since fashion is one of my passions, today I wanted to share with you a casual look I wore this past weekend to go shopping with my girls. The sleeveless anorak jacket is one of the must-have pieces of the season and I can guarantee you that it will never go out of style. I have had mine for the longest time and I wear it year after year. The lace-up top with the fringe booties add to the bohemian-style look l am so in love with. I hope you all like it!

Have an amazing week my sweet friends and remember to be free, be great and most importantly, be YOU!
